Snorkeling in Lake Worth: Where to Go

Snorkeling in Lake Worth: Where to Go

If you’re looking for a fun activity in Lake Worth, then you should go snorkeling. Unlike scuba diving, snorkeling does not require training or expensive equipment. It’s a fun activity for all of the swimmers in your family.

Your Options for Snorkeling in Lake Worth

If you want to go snorkeling in Lake Worth, you have a few options. The town has about 1000 feet of beachfront. With that beachfront comes many snorkeling access areas. If you drive a few minutes out of town, you can find many other great spots. You can also get on a charter boat and head out to a reef.

One great snorkeling option is drift diving. When you go drift diving, a boat drops you off at a reef with a diving flag. You let the current carry you throughout the reef. The boat drifts next to you as you explore the marine life down below. Unlike other snorkeling methods, you don’t need to swim far distances.

The Top Spots

Here are some of the top snorkeling spots in the area.

1. The Fishing Pier

The fishing pier at Lake Worth Lagoon is a great spot for snorkeling. You can find oyster beds and schools of tropical fish.

2. Horseshoe Reef

This reef is a prime location for finding sea turtles. There is a ledge that provides a home for eels, lobsters, and more.

3. Peanut Island

This island is about 20 miles north of Lake Worth. Although you need a boat to get there, you can take a water taxi or kayak. Around the island, the water is crystal clear and ideal for snorkeling.
